If you’re starting a business and are thinking about raising VC money, this post is for you. It’s an oldie, but a goodie.
Michael Arrington posted on Tech Crunch “Y Combinator To Offer Standardized Funding Legal Docs” However, by 7:39 PST, the link was dead. Apparently the law firm who created the docs, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati didn’t authorize their release into the Open Source world or there really was a “glitch” as the link now reads. Either way, as the CEO of a start-up I can say without question that early in my career, these documents would have been beneficial just to understand the process, vernacular, etc. And to be candid, the documents themselves are only part of the formula. The process is much more involved than simply having access to a bunch of legalese in a word doc. At least that’s what I keep telling myself ;-)
If you’d like to read the docs, simply leave your name and email in the comments section and I’ll forward them to you. I won’t publish the comment so you don’t have to worry about leaving your info for anyone to see/spam.
Happy reading!
